+ 100,00 EUR

Curated by LPCA - Laboratorio Permanente sulla Città e l’Abitare

+ 100,00 EUR analyses the dynamics that regulate the contemporary art system. In particular, the artist has identified a sort of paradox between the time and resources invested in cultural production and what artists, curators, or researchers obtain in return. With this work he tries to include the audience in this idea of “sacrifice” and “reward”.

Trying to figure out a new way of understanding and relating to space and sculpture, Valverde extends the field of spatial and relational exploration of the artwork, breaking free of the institutional space and opening up his project to a neighborhood of Turin, Barriera di Milano. In this way, the project gives the audience the opportunity to experience the urban environment and consider this area of the city through the sculptural elements they will bump into along the way.

The project starts with a spoiler: “There are one hundred euros. The first one who finds them, takes them”; it’s up to the public to decide whether to follow the clues left by the artist or not, in order to get the final reward.

+ 100,00 EUR is a project by Carlos Valverde in collaboration with LPCA - Laboratorio Permanente sulla Città e l’Abitare, an interdisciplinary group of research composed by CRIPTA747, Associazione Variante Bunker and researchers in Architecture and Urban Studies of Polytechnic University of Turin and IUAV, Venice.

The project has been carried out thanks to the support of Hangar Piemonte and under the patronage of Circoscrizione 6 - Città di Torino.
